ARaymond Tinnerman Awarded Nearly $1.7 Million In Funding
The Department of Energy has awarded ARaymond Tinnerman $1.67 million to develop a commercial building rooftop bracket system.
Rochester Hills, Michigan, September 26, 2001 – A Raymond Tinnerman has been awarded $1.67 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) though the SunShot Initiative. Overall the Initiative has awarded $145 million for 69 projects throughout 24 states for research and innovation in solar technology. The funding is part of the DOE’s SunShot Initiative, created with the goal that by the end of the decade the costs of photovoltaic (PV) systems will be cut by 75%.
By investing in these 69 projects, the DOE is anticipating continued and expanded development and improvement of the processes, materials, and supply chains for PV systems and additional components of solar systems.
ARaymond Tinnerman received funding through the “Extreme Balance of System Hardware Cost Reductions” program, one of six programs to receive financial support. Through the program, a total of nine projects will receive at total of $42 million for the research and innovation of new balance-of-systems (BOS) hardware. BOS applies to all components of PV systems beyond the actual panels, including support racks, switches, and wiring. Currently, ARaymond Tinnerman already has several solar solutions and a number of balance of systems solutions that make installation and maintenance simple while improve the overall security of the system.
BOS hardware is a critical part of installed solar systems, making up more than 40% of the total cost. Due to their important role, balance of systems presents a great opportunity to see significant innovation and cost reductions, according to the DOE.
